It's snowy out there....
Hey all. Wow. Are ready for spring or what???? The weather has not kept Chapter MK down, though. In January, several members attended Founder's Day. What a great time to connect with PEO sisters from around the region. Last week, we had a coffee social at Panera. It was great to see so many of our newer members there...and baby Reagan!!!! We are hoping our meeting Feb. 3rd does not get cancelled due to weather...Robin is planning a meal for us, and we love it when Robin treats us to her culinary delights!!! Last weekend, President Gail Martin participated in Polar Plunge, a fundraiser for Special Olympics. She bravely plunged into icy water...something she wanted to check off of her "40 things to do when I'm 40" list..congrats, Gail. We are still praying for the healing of Jane Saari's son as he battles cancer. Member Angie Perkins is pregnant with her 2nd child. We are excited to have initiated two new members: Catherine Wood and Doreen Disbrow. We hope to see more members at meetings in 2011!!! Officer elections are just around the corner, so please consider devoting your time. We will need a president, as Gail has stepped in after Susan moved to Texas. We will also need a new Recording Secretary and several other committments from members. See you soon...stay warm!!!!

We proudly welcome Catherine Wood to Chapter MK!!! Catherine was initiated Aug. 5th. Our chapter continues to grow as we recently added Katherine Jones, as well. We also have two more potential members whose names have been proposed...how exciting!!! As summer winds down, we look forward to cooler weather and quality time with our sisters. An Oct. 3rd trip to Cottey College is being planned, as well as a November BIL to Bucca di Beppo on the plaza.
We are also meeting August 10th at 6:30pm at Grand St. Cafe to give a college shower (gift cards) to Breanna Engeman, as she prepares to leave for California for school.

Sweet Summer Time!!!
Warm weather and long, lazy evenings are upon us, ladies!!! Chapter MK is not slowing down, though. We are so excited to be sending Bailey Lehr to Cottey's summer camp this year. We know she will have a great time and experience all kinds of new knowledge. Even better, she is the daughter of an MK member, so we couldn't be happier to expose her to P.E.O.
At our June meeting, Robin showed us "knife skills" and how to properly handle knives for chopping and dicing foods...fun!!! Robin will also be hosting her annual team building cooking activity at her home June 24th....but this event is SOLD OUT!!! Also coming up is Bunko at Mitzi's house on July 19th. We would like everyone to keep Lisa and Nancy in their thoughts with the passing of their fathers.

April Showers.....
Hello all!!! Beautiful weather (finally) is bringing with it budding trees, daffodils, and hyacinths. Yahoo for spring!!! We are in full spring swing, with a few reminders: We have a social planned for April 24th at 10am at Shabby Hattie's in Parkville. It is a vintage tea room and should be a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning. Please email me by April 18th if you plan to attend.
We welcome Kathy Jones, a transfer, into Chapter MK.
We installed our 2010 officers at the March meeting, with Gail Martin stepping up to hold the office of president in the absence of Susan; we are also grateful to Mitzi Jaskinia who is now our Vice President.
Robin is planning her team building for June 24th; please let her know ASAP if you want to attend. There are only seven spots open. The cost is $20, and this is always a favorite activity!!!
We are now selling Price Chopper and Hy Vee coupon books for our fund raiser.
We have voted to send Bailey Lehr, Dawn's daughter, to Cottey Summer Camp this year; we are very excited, as Bailey is very interested in science.
At our April meeting, we had Brandi Hagen, chiropractor and women's health expert, speak to us about women's health and the relationship of eating, supplements, and hormones; it was fascinating and very informative!!! We hope you are all doing well.....

February Events
We are spreading the love for Chapter MK!!! This month at our February meeting, we were treated to a lovely dinner prepared by Robin Pearson Stanley and Debbie Carnopis. Robin then treated us again as she played a lovely piano piece, "Nocturnal," which was one of Lee's favorites. We welcome a new baby into our chapter. Jennifer O'Neill gave birth on Feb. 3rd to a little girl, 6 lb, 14 oz...;pictures to follow soon! We also had a nice turn out to the Founder's Day celebration, and are looking forward to Inspiration Day on April 10th. The cost is $22.50 and checks should be mailed to Teresa Grint no later than March 9th.
